Volunteering Around Kenya

Here are some of my recommendations for organizations combining a vacation and volunteering in Kenya:

i-to-i International Projects - Provides a variety of volunteer work experiences including teaching English as a foreign language, community development, conservation, construction, and free TEFL training. i-to-i is one of the largest volunteer service organizations and their service is top quality, but they are expensive.

Global Crossroad - Offers a variety of volunteering opportunities, internship, trekking, adventure and cross-cultural experience to international volunteers in Nepal, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, China, Mongolia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Kenya, Ghana, Tibet

World Youth International - Offers volunteering opportunities abroad and overseas volunteer programs for teenagers, adults and seniors. Destinations include Kenya, Nepal, China, North and South America.

Madventurer - Paying volunteers participate in volunteer expeditions and community volunteer work lasting 3-6+ months in Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and Togo. Pre-departure briefing session held in U.K.

Tsavo Conservation Trust - Competent but not necessarily qualified volunteers participate in a variety of volunteer conservation and community projects in rural Kenya and contribute $177 per week to cover costs. Basic computing training also required; shared accommodations available for $7.50 per night.

Global Deaf Connection - Hosts volunteer vacations in Kenya to individuals interested in working with deaf children throughout the world.

Mondo Challenge - Sends volunteers abroad (gap year, university, post university, career break, early retirement etc) to help with volunteer development programs in Africa, Asia and South America. All our volunteer programs are community based and the normal stay is from 2-6 months.

VAE Volunteer Teachers in Kenya - Gives western educated, privileged students the opportunity to live and work in Kenya.
